Contributing to the energy transformation

in developing countries

Our passion is to create impact by developing renewable energy projects in markets that have a high need. In East Africa, the demand for PV solar energy solutions is extremely high, but the availability is still low. Local equipment production is still not given, transport is complex, and engineering and installation capacities are still scarce.

Our expert team has a long and intensive local track record in East Africa and started first initiatives more than ten years ago.

As our local execution hub we founded the Ugandan company EQUATOR SOLAR SYSTEMS Ltd., located in Kampala.

Solar project development

We offer full engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) capabilities for commercial and industrial solutions. After commissioning we provide all necessary operation and maintenance services required with our local team.

Exporting innovative solutions

We deliver innovative solutions in cooperation with German and East African universities.

Building local capacity

Many project works require local resources. Our aim is to build local capacities in coherence with the UN sustainability goals.

Solutions for hospitals

Hospitals in emerging countries often suffer from reliable energy, although many already do have grid access.

Our PV solutions supply reliable energy, and at the same time save money. Emergency infrastructures like Intensive Care Units (ICU) or maternity stations will get a priority access to energy. Our long-term target is to make these hospitals completely autonomous from the grid.

Solutions for industrial use

Our industrial customers do have a clear target: the decrease of energy costs.

Our PV solar solutions help them to gain substantial savings. These installations are mainly grid-connected; however due to dramatic power cuts, a hybrid system approach is often needed. Integrations of diesel generators or an Energy Storage System (ESS) are essential. The latter can also take over the role of an expensive UPS.

Solutions for hotels

Hotels need uninterupted power supply to serve their cistomers well - and they want to save on their monthly electricity bill.

Our solutions will solve these problems, and much more. Together with a finance partner we have established a lease model solution without upfront payment. Immediate savings are guaranteed.

Innovation project in Uganda:

the first dairy farm powered by a hybrid PV solar solution.

Funded by the dena Deutsche Energie Agentur GmbH (German Energy Agency) and the Export Initiative Program of the German MInistry of Econimocs and Energy, we have developed the first hybrid fuel saver PV solar solution with a capacity of 200 kWp. The system has been commissioned in December 2021, built on the roof of a brand new dairy production site in Busunju, Uganda.
